Have you ever heard about
spacequakes? Well this is also new to my ears. I have just look at the news and
I have been seen about this spacequakes. The very firts thing that came up in
my mind what spacequake is; maybe this is like our earthquake but counterpart from
our own planet that it happens among the planet in our solar system. But what
is spacequakes anyway? So I look at to this news and I have read that this is a
tremor in the magnetic field of the Earth that produce an earthquake out in
space.
In the 27th of July
this 2010 NASA Science News article “Spacequakes Rumble Near Earth” provides
the background to this new discovery on spacequakes by NASA scientists. The sun
can dump enough energy into Earth's magnetic field to trigger
"spacequakes" in our planet's upper atmospheric state, a new study
has found.
The space conditions
phenomenon -- technically a strong oscillation in the satellite's magnetic flux
-- can impact auroras and can spawn "space tornados" able of bringing
down power lines.
Generally, Ground's flux
lines can be thought of as rubber bands extended taut by the solar wind, which
is really billed subatomic particles running altogether directions from the
sunlight, enounced by co-author Vassilis Angelopoulos, a space physicist in medical scrubs at the University of
California, City of the Angels.
Dry land's magnetized tail
is the region of the subject field that's stretched out like a sock by the
sun's unfluctuating bombing.
New informations from a
suite of National Aeronautics and Space Administration orbiters sent for THEMIS
(Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms) show
that, when a magnetic flux line in the tail builds up overmuch zip, it breaks
down, and portion of the assembly line is directed hurling back toward Ground.
In the outgrowth, the broken
line can pull high energy subatomic particles in Terra firma's atmospheric
state to make a whip-like "plasma fountain."
These jet planes crash into
other portions of Dry land's flux at about 20,000 miles (32,000 klicks) above
the satellite's surface, where they rebound like tennis balls hitting a carpet.
The plasma fountains from
the charismatic tail leap then bounce again, and so forth, till they finally
lose all their free energy. Each set of plasma fountain wallops can secrete
every bit much free energy in entire as a magnitude 5 to 6 temblor, THEMIS
revealed.
In add on, the wallops laid
Dry land's intact magnetic flux oscillating, and they make extremely magnetised
vortices, or quad tornados, that perforate down into the satellite's
atmosphere.
These vortices twiddle Solid
ground's flux lines in the North and South Poles, where they can make bright
ripples and twirls in auroras.
The impressions of the
vortices can even be experienced on the earth, as they can cause current spikes
in electric lines that can bring down power grids over big expanses.
